Sunday's Story - Mama Linnea

Too often, I am asked: "why do you share breastfeeding stories?"

I have a million answers to that question.  Answers that focus on solidarity, unity and shared celebration. Answers that focus on strength, perseverance and normalizing the normal.

We share to empower and encourage one another.  We share because we are proud and we have stories to tell.

Stories that have the power to bond us and breathe confidence into those of us left doubting.

So join me in celebrating each and every Sunday Story, as I run this feature alongside the lovely people at Lansinoh over the coming weeks.  Iyou've ever assumed that corporations have tunnel vision and give no thought about the individuals that their products support - you've never spoken to the folks behind the scenes at Lansinoh HQ.  Because the technology that they are working on supports so many moms in maintaining their nursing relationships.  I've said before and will say again - breastfeeding is not an all or nothing experience.  And with many moms going back to work just weeks after giving birth, bottles that are specifically designed to avoid nipple confusion can mean the difference between a breastfeeding journey ending, or continuing.

So together, we will bring you weekly glimpses of inspiration from real moms, in the real world, getting on with real breastfeeding.

Simple.  And oh so important.

These are the words and pictures of moms walking this same road, albeit in wholly unique ways.  These are our shared stories.

Because we're in this together, mama.

Mama Linnea says:

"I am her Source.  Everything she needs right now is found in me.  It is empowering to be needed this way; to be fully responsible for the sustenance of her life.  This is such an amazing role I get to play.  My purpose has been found.  I am complete."

Thank you to mama Linnea for allowing me to feature her story in this piece.  For more glimpses into real life breastfeeding, join the Mama Bean village on Facebook!
